Team Building Day – October 2016

Earlier this month the team at Seaspace International Ltd went on an adventure to the Isle of Wight to take part in a unique team building day. Enjoyed by all members of staff, it’s likely never to be forgotten.

It was an early start but we were raring to go. At Lymington Yacht Haven we had bacon rolls, tea and coffee to kickstart the day and were split into two teams ready to take on the treasure hunt challenge.

Once kitted out in all-weather gear and life jackets we set off onto the Solent for an adrenaline fuelled, wave jumping, donut turning, high speed trip in two powerful RIBs to our first stop, Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

There we were issued with tablets that listed a variety of questions, clues and tasks to answer and complete at various way-markers around the seaside town. We were up against the clock with the tablet keeping score, whilst also showing the location of the opposing team. Each team set off at a run, creating a wave of interest and excitement through the town and even getting locals to join in by providing directions and answers.

Once back at the quayside, without incurring any time penalties, we set off at a more sedate pace to a riverside pub for lunch and refreshments – very important to keep hydrated.

Once finished there was no time to rest, it was off again to our next destination, Yarmouth, to continue the treasure hunt. Finally, back aboard the RIBS we set off back to Lymington, via a sightseeing trip to The Needles, bouncing high off the top of waves and enduring some hair-raising angled turns.

Finally back on dry land there was a drinks reception and medal ceremony for the winning team.

It was a fun, tiring, exhilarating day of team building and friendship.

Here at Seaspace we are an extremely close knit team, that plays as well as works hard and looks to build on team qualities and individual attributes. The purpose of the team building day was to not only have a huge amount of fun but also to take the team out of their comfort zones to see how the communication, group skills and bonding held up when out of our normal work environment.

The team building programme provided an upbeat and powerful experience that allowed the team to compete effectively by enabling staff at all corporate levels to work as true team players.
